For the Simpsons movie, several 7-11s have been converted to Kwik-E-Marts. Finally, a reason to go to Burbank! And there’s one in LA, too. They’ve got all sorts of cool Simpsons products, like Frosted Krusty-Os, Squishees, Buzz Cola, and doughnuts with pink frosting and sprinkles. If they have half a brain, they’ll stay like that forever. The page for the photo set lists several other locations, so cross your fingers, maybe there’s one in your area of the country.

Yes, this story even mentions that one of the store owners (of Indian descent) may even have unconciously chosen his career based on being a Simpsons fan:

Hey you Simpson’s experts: was there ever an “alternate universe” story where Apu chooses a different career? (Except for US President; he does not qualify as a non-native born citizen)

Cool link.
I’m no expert although I do BELIEVE to have seen every episode.
One where Apu has a different job would have been from a Halloween special, since they mixed up reality frequently on those ones.
But all I remember off the top of my head is when he lost his job and Homer had to go to India or something to try to bring him back because it was his fault he got fired.
Although now that I think of it. CAN he lose his job? Is he the OWNER of the store or just an employee? I seem to remember him claiming to be the owner, in which case I’m pretty sure you can’t be fired as the owner???????? -
Does anyone remember if his wife ever worked in the back of Kwik-E-Mart? Makes me think he ran the store by himself. Or it’s family-run. And I do remember them having a ton of kids on one episode.
I’ll definitely have to check the 7-11 (or Kwik-E-Mart!) out on Venice in LA. The Flickr photos showed a line coming out the door. Must have been the grand opening make-over.
BTW, has anyone Simpsonized themselves yet? The results can be pretty accurate.
