When did I find this out you ask? When I showed up at “The Chamber” in NYC last night to see them.

That’s right. One hour drive to my sister’s house. Then, 40 Minute train ride. Walked from Penn station, in the heat and rain, to the club (which is next to The Intrepid just to give you an idea of how far it was) just to find out that they ain’t comin’! Some guy with a clipboard is posted by the front door. He’s like “You’re not here to see FrontLine Assembly are you?” We’re like “it’s the ONLY REASON we’re here.”

Here’s the quote from their website:

We are getting news that the rest of the US tour may have to be cancelled after problems with the tour bus rental company.

Please stay tuned for further information as soon as we get it,

Update2: The NYC show is definitely cancelled due to problems with the tour bus that were completely beyond the control of the band.

They are very upset about this and Bill is hoping to organise a new NYC date for some time in the next couple of months.

The band are now waiting to head back for Canada. No news about the Canada dates at present.

Update 3: Unfortunately, the rest of the North American tour is OFF due to not having a tour bus. This includes the CANADIAN dates too.

Update 4: hey guys, here is some news.
we are doing vancouver for sure and calgary and edmonton are looking like they could still happen. We are trying to get some alternative transportation. Adrian

Appearantly, whatever the problem was, it happened just hours before their scheduled appearance.

Our night got worse too. Not wanting to walk back (I’m not sure why I let her talk me into walking in the first place.) we took a cab and decided to go to “Jekyll and Hide” restaurant because my sister kept blabbing about their “pumpkin tortellini”. I’m not a huge italian fan, but I told her that if she ordered it, I would try it. 3 minutes after taking our order, they came back to tell my sis that they are out of the tortellini. Ha HA This night is not ruined enought, right?

It gets better.

I went to the bathroom to find out that the stall door wouldn’t stay closed, and the lock was ripped off. so I had to prop my leg up, while pooping, just to maintain privacy.

Here’s the kicker.

When I get back, my sister is freaking out.

She accidentally left her cell phone in the cab.

Not really knowing what to do, I just decided to call her cell phone from MY cell phone and walla, the hindu driver-guy picks up and agrees to meet us at the restaurant, give her the phone back, and drive us back to the station (for a generous tip).

So, to sum things up:

Total out of pocket expenses for me to NOT see FrontLine Assembly = 130 dollars.

And I didn’t even buy the tickets…

My wife works as a technician at a veterinary hospital.

It is owned by a couple.

A couple of guys.

They are married.

To each other.

They ONLY hire gay doctors as apart of their staff. (OK actually there is ONE straight guy in the staff, but I bet he wasn’t hired for his ABILITY!)

SO…

Gay Pride part one

I don’t like gay people. There I said it. I’m so evil, aren’t I? I am such a horrible person because I believe a penis and a vagina are a perfect match. Bad me. But it goes farther than that. I see these homos at my wife’s company parties. They are very flamboyant and they don’t try to hide it. Now, I am not so much of an ass that I tell these people how I feel to their face. It’s a new age and my views are no longer popular, but that doesn’t mean I won’t stare at them from the opposite side of the room.

This is what I see: These homos are rubbing and groping WOMEN who allow it because these girls know they are gay. Jokingly, I think to myself, “wouldn’t it be funny if it was just an act to get cop-a-feels without the lawsuits!”

Then it struck me. Pay attention now. This is important:

As a straight man, I would throw-up at the thought of fondling another man. I WANT WOMEN!

A gay man on the other hand… shouldn’t they throw-up at the thought of fondling a woman? They want MEN! Unless…. it’s all the sham! A farce! A lie!

AT MOST these dudes are BI, but they are NOT flat-out gay!

Sure, a straight man can ACT like he doesn’t mind being close to another man. But this happens for a REASON. Say, because he’s playing a part in a movie FOR PAY. Certainly not at a party with his friends.

Gay = a lie!

and now I respect their views even less.

Gay Pride part two

My wife isn’t so disgusted over the gay men issue (obviously, she works for them), and she will use this very overused comparison by asking me the age-old question:

“Why is it that men love to see two women make love, but when two guys are together, it’s disgusting?”

I understand this arguement very well. Most “straight” skin magazines will show two women rolling around together. Furthermore, open-minded chicks have been known to kiss at parties just to get a reaction (cheers) from the crowd. Guys won’t do that (unless they are at a very special party) EVEN IF they are gay because they know they will get a bad reaction out of it.
So why is this?

Two girls together = socially acceptable & well, just cool.

Two guys together = please stop making me think about it.

I have been in the field of electronics for about 15 years and I can finally answer this question.

Take any household device.

A lamp, let’s say.

The lamp has a cord with a plug. This is the MALE part of the equation.

For things to work CORRECTLY the plug must be placed into a wall socket.

The wall socket is the FEMALE part of the equation.

Once the plug is in, the lamp can turn on. It works. Normal operation.

NOW. Lets take two lamps and put them together. Let’s touch both of their plugs to one another. What happens? NOTHING! This is not the way it was meant to be!

HOWEVER if you were to somehow rip the (female) outlets out of the wall and touch them together. What happens?

Shock! Zap! Sparks go flying! Fire! Circuits fry! Fuses blow! WOW! You want to see THAT dont you?
The point is:

When two females get together…

I’m not saying it’s RIGHT,

BUT IT’S VERY INTERESTING TO WATCH!

It was released in a miniseries (available in TPB) called Origin. The art is quite good, as you’d expect of a work of such importance. Without giving spoilers, it covers his parentage, upbringing, awakening, and passage into adulthood. Some details are given through innuendo, but it’s certainly clear enough for any adult reader with decent comprehension. A few plot points are a bit contrived; the character is fairly complex, and they tried to give an origin/cause for all major character traits and interests. Considering the age of the character (detailed in the book, finally), you’d figure some interests were developed later in life. Still, a must read for any fan, and who isn’t?

It’s a film noir/dark comedy, but it’s too much dark and not enough comedy. For a good, relatively modern film noir, try Body Heat or LA Confidential. For dark comedy, try Army of Darkness or Shaun of the Dead.
